Last week a teammate placed a hand-crafted sign on her desk that read, “this is my year” and I believe her. She is talented, committed and has some big goals.
January is a month of resolutions, declarations, affirmations and possibilities. I am encouraged and inspired by the power of words to set new intentions. Being deliberate about what we want to create, change or accomplish is a road map to achieving goals and dreams.
My colleague’s sign strategically placed between family photos was a reminder that our aspirations and hopes for the new year not only affect us but also everyone in our lives. As we strive, our families, co-workers and friends are also impacted.
Each day the team at the Foundation meets and connects with donors, philanthropists, community advocates, and residents who have dreams and the desire to create possibilities around the causes they care about.
Whether it’s a grandfather passionate about the environment because he is concerned about the world he is leaving his grandchildren, a survivor of domestic violence standing up a new nonprofit so other women in her situation are supported, or a business owner setting up a scholarship fund providing support for a local student in an effort to pay it forward- they all are making their intentions known.
As we walk into to 2019 together let’s state our dreams and aspirations for our lives and our community. What would our signs say? I would love to hear from you at [email protected]
