Author and TED speaker Dan Pallotta to lead Board Training Seminar in November-Tickets now available

Author and TED speaker Dan Pallotta to lead Board Training Seminar in November-Tickets now available

The Southwest Florida Community Foundation will bring back nationally renowned author and TED talk speaker Dan Pallotta to town on Saturday, November 2 for a one-day Board training seminar for nonprofit leaders and their board members.

Designed specifically for nonprofit boards, The Bolder Board Training℠ teaches how to work with CEOs to create possibilities for impact.

“This training was so successful last fall and sold out so we wanted to bring Dan back for those that either missed his first visit or previous attendees that want to learn more,” said Sarah Owen, president and CEO of the Southwest Florida Community Foundation. “This is not a traditional training on governance and finance but a one-day event that is an immersion in possibility and aspiration that positively disrupts traditional ways of thinking. It is part lecture, part workshop.”

The Bolder Board Training℠ will be held at the Community Foundation’s Collaboratory located at 2031 Jackson Street in downtown Fort Myers. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Reservations are now being accepted by visiting https://floridacommunity.com/bolder-board-training/. The cost is $150 per person and tables for four or eight are available for nonprofits. Seating is limited and the event is expected to sell out.

Organizations are encouraged to bring as many of their board members as possible. The training can also serve as a powerful first day to a board retreat.

“Having the ability to participate in the Bolder Board Training empowered our organization’s board to articulate and pursue bold possibilities to create impact for the autism community,” said David Brown, MSW, president, Family Initiative, Incorporated. “Our entire leadership group was moved and inspired by the immersion into Dan Pallotta’s vision for what’s possible. It is an incredibly rare and wonderful opportunity to spend the day in the room of community leaders so closely with Dan’s insight.”

Pollotta is an American entrepreneur, author and humanitarian activist who invented the multi-day charitable event industry with the AIDSRides and Breast Cancer 3-Days, which raised over half a billion dollars in nine years and were the subject of one of the first Harvard Business School case studies on social enterprise. His 2013 TED talk on philanthropy is one of the 100 most-viewed TED talks of all time. Pollotta’s book Uncharitable is the best-selling title in the history of Tufts University Press. He is also a regular contributor to Harvard Business Review online and is widely credited with changing the national conversation about impact and overhead in charity in America.
