Lending

SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans
Offers up to $2 million in assistance per small business and can provide vital economic support to small businesses to help overcome the temporary loss of revenue they are experiencing.

  • These working capital loans are intended to assist small businesses in meeting their financial obligations through the disaster recovery period.
  • These loans may be used to pay fixed debts (Bridge Loan), payroll, accounts payable and other bills that can’t be paid because of the disaster’s impact.
  • The application is available online at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela.
  • The interest rate for businesses is 3.75% with loan terms up to 30 years.
  • SBA offers loans with long-term repayments to keep payments affordable for businesses without the financial ability to weather the adverse impacts of COVID-19.

The Applicants may call SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or email [email protected] for more information on SBA disaster assistance. Individuals who are deaf or hard-of-hearing may call (800) 877-8339. The deadline to apply for an Economic Injury Disaster Loan is Dec. 18, 2020.

Submissions for the 2020 A Community Thrives program are open from August 18, 2020 through September 11, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. ET

LeeCares Funding
Lee County Government is investing in Human & Business Services to provide immediate assistance for individuals, families and businesses.

Funds are available through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act federal stimulus package. Para asistencia en español, por favor llame 239-533-2273.

Lois Lenski Covey Foundation: Bookmobile Grant Program
The Lois Lenski Covey Foundation is dedicated to advancing literacy and fostering a love of reading among underserved and at-risk children and youth. The Foundation’s Bookmobile Grant Program provides support to nonprofit organizations throughout the U.S. and its territories that operate a lending bookmobile that travels into neighborhoods populated by underserved youth. These grants, ranging from $500 to $3,000, are for purchasing books published for young people, preschool through grade eight, and cannot be used for administrative or operational uses. Applications may be submitted through September 1st of each year. Visit the Foundation’s website to review the guidelines for the Bookmobile Grant Program.

Save Small Business 
The Save Small Business Fund is a grantmaking initiative offering short-term relief for small employers in the United States and its territories.

Omidyar Network: COVID-19 Economic Response Advocacy Fund
The Omidyar Network’s COVID-19 Economic Response Advocacy Fund plans to infuse 501(c)(4) funding into national, state, and local advocacy and organizing efforts aimed at passing economic stimulus to address the immediate toll of the COVID-19 pandemic on working people.

Support for Programming to Aid People with Alzheimer’s or Dementia
The Brookdale National Group Respite Program awards seed grants to service providers that plan to develop new, dementia-specific Group Respite or specialized Early Memory Loss (EML) programming to participants, along with support to caregivers and care partners.

Youth Soccer Programs Funded Nationwide
Target Youth Soccer Grants support nonprofit organizations, schools, and government agencies throughout the United States that have soccer programs serving youth 5 to 18 years old.

Grants Benefit LGBTQI Organizations
The Funding Queerly Giving Circle, administered by Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice, supports LGBTQI organizations throughout the United States.

Model Justice Efforts Recognized
The Foundation for Improvement of Justice works to enhance local, state, and federal systems of justice by rewarding the accomplishments of innovative programs throughout the United States.

Funds Available to Combat Rural Opioid Use
The Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (Implementation) seeks to reduce the morbidity and mortality of substance use disorder, including opioid use disorder, in high risk rural communities.

Anti-Gang Efforts Supported
The Comprehensive Anti-Gang Programs for Youth initiative helps communities develop youth gang intervention or suppression programs that aim to reduce violence.

Peace Development Fund: De Colores Rapid Response Fund
As the outbreak of COVID-19 presents growing and unprecedented challenges for organizers nationwide, the De Colores Rapid Response Fund offers grants of $500 to $1,000 to grassroots organizations working to make positive community interventions through strategic, organizing-focused approaches, especially in marginalized communities of color and working-class communities. National Restaurant Association Educational Fund Employee Relief Fund (Grants) 
The Restaurant Employee Relief Fund was created to help restaurant industry employees experiencing hardship in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak. Through this Fund, grants will be made to restaurant industry employees who have demonstrated being financially impacted by COVID-19, whether through a decrease in wages or loss of employment. These grants will be made on a first-come first-served basis, subject to availability of funds. 100% of the Fund’s proceeds will go to providing grants to restaurant workers. This Fund is operated by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, whose mission is to attract, empower and advance today’s and tomorrow’s restaurant and foodservice workers.

Wells Fargo Announces Aid to Communities Impacted by COVID-19
Wells Fargo & Company announced additional comprehensive steps to help customers, communities and employees grappling with the impact of COVID-19. The company has suspended residential property foreclosure sales, evictions and involuntary auto repossessions. Additionally, the Wells Fargo Foundation will increase its charitable donations to $175 million to help address food, shelter, small business and housing stability, and to provide help to public health organizations.

Remote health care: The Department of Health and Human Services’ Telehealth Network Grant Program seeks to enhance telehealth networks to deliver 24-hour emergency department consultation services to rural providers without emergency care specialists. The emphasis is on stroke, behavioral health, and emergency medical services. The application deadline is April 13.

Civic engagement:  Craig Newmark Philanthropies, created by the Craigslist founder, works to advance grassroots organizations that are “getting stuff done” in: trustworthy journalism and the information ecosystem, voter protection, gender diversity in technology, and veterans and military families. The IRS has established a special section focused on steps to help businesses and others affected by the coronavirus. The site has online resources to help taxpayers, guidance, frequently asked questions, and more.

Bank of America Announces Additional Support for Small Business Clients Experiencing Hardship from Impact of Coronavirus
Bank of America announced additional support for small business clients, in response to the unprecedented challenges of the coronavirus, through its Client Assistance Program.

Florida Department of Economic Opprtunity Short Time Compensation Program for Employers
The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity has a Short Time Compensation program available to help small businesses continue to pay workers even with reduced work hours. Application information, eligibility, and program goals are listed on their website.

SBA Disaster Assistance Loans
Provides low-interest disaster loans to help businesses recover from declared disasters. Businesses can apply for loans online through a 3-step loan process.

  • Adapting Programs to Go Virtual Featured in This Week’s Collaboratory Interactive Session for Nonprofits & Businesses – April 23, 8:30 to 10 a.m.
    The Southwest Florida community’s ability to prosper socially, environmentally, and economically lies in the capabilities of individuals, nonprofits, local governments, and businesses. Thrivability by Collaboratory curates homegrown experts, partners, and global gurus alike to support change-makers in developing themselves and their organization.
    This week’s interactive session will focus on adapting programs to go virtual with Zoom. Facilitating successful virtual programs is critical to serving Southwest Florida at this time. In addition to advancing technical competencies in Zoom, participants will hear creative solutions that local organizations are using to adapt their programming to the virtual space. Finally, there will be four participants to troubleshoot how they will transition their own programs collectively. Registration is required so we can provide your access.
