Celebrating Earth Day-Let’s Go Green!

Happy Earth Day!

The Foundation team and our co-collaborators in Collaboratory are coming together in celebration of Earth Day. Our staff has formed a Green Team as we seek ways to continually have less impact on our environment and to help preserve our community’s natural resources. What are you doing for Earth Day? If you need some ideas, take our Earth Day Quiz, there’s lots there to think about.

At this time of the year, we are also hyper-focused on our next generation of students–128 of them who are being awarded scholarships for their next big step. There is much to celebrate, please read more below.

In Gratitude,

Sarah

Sarah Owen, President & CEO, Southwest Florida Community Foundation

Tune in Monday, April 22 at 1 p.m. on 90.1 for WGCU’s Gulf Coast Live radio show broadcasting from Collaboratory with special guests for Earth Day.

  • outright gifts that use appreciated assets as a substitute for cash;
  • gifts that return income or other financial benefits to the donor in return for the contribution;
  • gifts payable upon the donor’s death

The program is open to anyone interested in learning more, this is not a fundraising event. Seating is limited, click here to RSVP.

Women’s Legacy Fund Hosts Spring Contributors’ Luncheon

The Women’s Legacy Fund gathered more than 100 Contributors and supporters on April 12, 2019 at Collaboratory for the annual Women’s Legacy Fund Spring Luncheon.

The Women’s Legacy Fund is a group of women who combine their contributions in this collective philanthropy initiative to

foster the immersion of women in philanthropy and develop the region’s next philanthropic leaders.

During this year’s luncheon, WLF contributors explored the focus area of their first multi-year grant award: access and attainment for education opportunities for women and girls in healthcare.

The working luncheon included a presentation of research on the latest statistics on women in the workforce in Southwest Florida followed by a panel of regional women spearheading programs offering educational opportunities to women, as well as table conversations led by facilitators. The format allowed contributors to review and discuss this topic deeper as a group of collective philanthropists.
