What Do Scholars, Veterans, Entrepreneurs, Philanthropists, Nonprofits and a Ted Talker Have in Common?
Scholars, veterans, entrepreneurs and philanthropists have been hard at work in the region these past few months creating exciting progress in the areas of scholarship funding, and designing pitches for new business ideas for Southwest Florida as you will see in this issue of Cause & Effect.
Additionally, our nonprofit grantees have been focused this year on creating change in our region with grants received by the Foundation and its donors. Please follow our News blog this summer as 20 of our nonprofit grantees share their stories through the Foundation’s Florida Weekly column.
We will also be bringing you their stories via video after our visits with them all this year. Stay tuned to be inspired.

$761,650 Awarded in Scholarships
The future in Southwest Florida just got brighter with 135 students who were just awarded over $760,000 in scholarship funding from donors of the Southwest Florida Community Foundation.
Ranging from studies in law, medicine, communications, and more to technical school programs that prepare students for careers needed in Southwest Florida, the scholarship program is supporting our future generation.
We offer a great big THANK YOU to our volunteer reviewers who help us with this difficult task of evaluating applications, and of course to the donors who made it all possible.

CHANGE MAKING AND THE SOUFFLÉS OF LIFE

I have never eaten a soufflé. In the scheme of things, it is not a big deal but recently I saw the offering on a menu and began to consider why I had never tried this culinary classic.
